Nursing Science Fellowship

Nurse Scientists Fellowship Graduation
Boston Children’s Nursing Science fellows participate in a structured program that helps them collaborate with nurse scientists, administrative leaders and other staff engaged in clinical inquiry. This two-year fellowship, which functions under the Nurse Executive Committee for Research and Inquiry, is directed by Jean Connor, PhD, RN, CPNP, who also serves as one of its core mentors. Sandra Mott, PhD, RN-BC, CPN, Michele DeGrazia, PhD, RN, NNP-BC, FAAN, Margaret McCabe, PhD, RN, PNP, and Debra Lajoie, PhD, MSN, RN, LNC are also faculty mentors.

To date, more than 47 fellows across nursing and patient services, as well as national and international participants, have participated. Throughout their two- year journey, fellows create a scholarly project that contributes to the science of pediatric nursing. On a quarterly basis, they share their progress with peers, mentors and Boston Children’s senior clinical leadership. Once completed, their work is disseminated through meetings and publications.

Global Health Nursing Fellowship

The Global Pediatric Nursing Fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital provides the opportunity for clinical training in low resource settings, and experiential learning in the development, management and evaluation of programs and projects to improve child health and promote quality nursing care globally. Nurse fellows will attend regular seminars on relevant global health service delivery topics including clinical skills, quality improvement, research methodology, and
teaching skills.

The three Global Pediatric Nursing Fellows in Health Service and Delivery travel for several weeks annually to provide training in clinical care in low-resource settings. As part of their work, they develop, manage and evaluate projects aimed to improve child health in these settings.

Palliative Care Fellowship (PACT)

December 15–February 15: Applications being accepted

The Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT), offers a 12 month Nurse Practitioner fellowship. PACT is an interdisciplinary team dedicated to improving symptoms and quality of life in children with advanced illness. The core team includes physicians, Advanced Practice Nurses, chaplains and social workers. The fellow will have the opportunity to work with patients and their families and other professional champions of pediatric palliative care. This fellowship is an interdisciplinary fellowship training, making this it a unique training model that exists nowhere else in the country.
