Hans Oettgen |Professional History

Dr. Oettgen received his MD from Harvard Medical School where he also completed a PhD in Immunology, working with Cox Terhorst, PhD, on the structure of the T cell receptor. He completed his clinical training in Pediatrics and in Allergy & Immunology at Boston Children’s Hospital followed by post-doctoral research training with Dr. Philip Leder, Chair of Genetics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Oettgen joined the Children’s Hospital faculty in 1994 and since then has run an NIH-funded research program investigating the regulation of allergic responses. Dr. Oettgen holds the Children’s Hospital Boston Professorship in Pediatric Immunology at Harvard Medical School and serves as Associate Chief of the Division of Immunology at Boston Children’s. In addition to directing theOettgen Labhe oversees the clinical programs of the Division, which provides services to children with allergies, immune deficiencies, rheumatologic diseases and skin disorders.
