Ari J. Wassner |Professional History
Dr. Ari Wassner is Medical Director of the Thyroid Center, Director of the Endocrinology Fellowship Training Program at Boston Children's Hospital, and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He earned his MD from Harvard Medical School and completed residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Wassner is a national expert in pediatric thyroid disease, serving for the American Thyroid Association (ATA) Pediatric Thyroid Cancer Guidelines Task Force and the writing group of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) congenital hypothyroidism clinical guidelines. Dr. Wassner’s clinical primary focus is on congenital hypothyroidism and thyroid neoplasia in children. His basic research has investigated the role of thyroid hormone metabolism in modulating local and systemic thyroid hormone signaling in disease states including heart failure and liver injury. Dr. Wassner is actively involved in education and received the 2017 Masland Award for Excellence in Teaching from Harvard Medical School. He also serves on the Boston Children’s Hospital Graduate Medical Committee and is a member of the Teaching Academies at both Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. In addition to his involvement in resident and fellow education, he directs preclinical medical education in Endocrinology at Harvard Medical School.
